CBT for Weight Management: Challenges, Thinking Traps, and Long-Term Maintenance
November 4 – December 16, 2024
Long-Term Changes for a Healthy Life
We help individuals build resilience and confidence through everyday choices. The Beck Institute Weight Management Program, developed by Dr. Judith S. Beck and Deborah Beck Busis, LCSW, teaches concrete and actionable skills based on the evidence-based principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). We provide people with the tools they need to support healthy habits.
How is Beck Institute’s Weight Management Program Different from Other Weight Loss or Diet Programs?
Other weight management programs assume people have the cognitive (thinking) and behavioral skills required to follow a healthy eating or exercise plan. In reality, many people struggle with getting back on track after making mistakes, problem-solving common obstacles in reaching their goals, and maintaining motivation long term.
Our goal is to provide people with the evidence-based tools they need to support the life they want. Based on decades of clinical experience in helping people develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, our program encourages individuals to prioritize their health, set aside time to focus on their habits, and continually give themselves credit for their efforts.
Change Your Lifestyle for Years to Come
This program teaches people how to:
• Think differently and overcome common sabotaging thoughts;
• Eat favorite foods while meeting their health goals;
• Feel in control in the most challenging situations;
• Feel confident in their ability to follow a healthy diet and exercise plan;
• Remain motivated to maintain their new healthy habits for life.
Is This Program Right for You?
The Beck Institute Weight Management Program is intended for individuals who have received clearance from their doctor to begin a weight loss program. If you have questions about whether starting a weight loss program is right for you, please contact your primary care physician for advice.
This program is not appropriate for people who have been given a diagnosis of an eating disorder. Please see our section on CBT treatment for eating disorders to learn more, or find a certified CBT therapist.
