About

I am a licensed psychologist providing compassionate and caring evidence-based treatment using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I treat problems including generalized anxiety disorder, depression, panic, PTSD and OCD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I work primarily with adults, older adults, adolescents (ages 16+) and their families. Cognitive therapy is active, directive, and structured- each session focuses on a specific set of problems. I am especially interested in helping young adults who are experiencing more complex and serious mental illnesses (such as bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders) and their families.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a collaborative, problem solving therapy that emphasizes practical solutions and taking concrete steps toward important life goals. Therapy is specifically tailored to address your individual problems. We will work together to identify the main problems and set therapy goals to help you take small steps towards changing problematic thinking and behavior patterns. CBT has been demonstrated to be effective for a wide range of disorders based on scientific research in randomized clinical trials, the gold standard for testing the effectiveness of therapy. In my practice, I take a compassionate recovery-oriented approach that emphasizes the value of returning to meaningful activities in your life even if you are feeling quite depressed, anxious, or confused.

I am currently an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Beck Institute and a Member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy- both organizations provide certification for cognitive therapy. I have completed a six-month extra-mural training program at the Beck Institute and I am certified as a Beck Institute trained cognitive behavior therapist. My current interests focus on consulting, training, and supervising cases and treating individuals and families with complex and serious mental illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar spectrum disorders and recurrent severe depression.

I supervised and trained therapists for 8 years as Clinical Director of an APA accredited training program for psychologists.
