About

I am a licensed psychologist with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which is the USA’s largest integrated healthcare system, and my passion is helping Veterans experiencing psychosis to live their best lives. To this end, I have spent my career pursing training in various evidence-based practices for this population, supervising psychology predoctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows and serving as my local psychosis team leader.

In addition to other training in other therapies, I am a VA-recognized provider in Social Skills Training (SST) and Behavioral Family Therapy (BFT). I’ve completed a 6-month Extramural Training through the Beck Institute in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) and a quarter of supervision in conducting Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R).

At my facility, I am the point of contact for the Early Psychosis Intervention Coordination (EPIC) program, which is the application of the coordinated specialty care model within VHA. I created and manage a national listserv and SharePoint in order to sustain a community of practice for VHA providers administering psychosis treatments.  I am one of three psychologists implementing a new CBTp arm within the Psychosis Telehealth Program in VHA’s National TeleMental Health Center (NTMHC), which uses an expert consultative model to allow Veterans across the country access to these highly-specialized and low-availability services.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association’s Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) Serious Mental Illness/Severe Emotional Disturbance (SMI/SED)  and Veteran Administration (VA) sections. I serve as secretary for the SMI/SED section and am a member of the Education & Training Committee. I belong to the North American Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis Network.

Recently, I co-authored a call to action chapter in M. Stacy, & Davidson  (Eds.). Recovering the U.S. mental health care system: The past, the present and the future of psychosocial interventions for psychosis.
