About

I’m Liudmila Bakhmat, LCSW, a New York-based therapist dedicated to providing culturally sensitive care. I hold an MSW from Columbia University and completed postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Karen Horney Clinic, where I worked with clients for nearly five years. This extensive clinical experience, combined with my training, equipped me to effectively apply psychodynamic and psychoanalytic techniques in my practice. I also completed a Certificate Program in Child and Adolescent Therapy at PPSC and pursued further education in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at MITPP to deepen my expertise in psychoanalysis. My internship at Mount Sinai’s Child and Family Institute provided valuable experience in individual and family therapy, assessment, and group work. My approach integrates CBT, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic techniques, and other evidence-based practices. I tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, helping them gain insight, identify and transform unhelpful patterns, thoughts, and beliefs, and develop effective coping strategies. I believe in a holistic, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach, ensuring clients feel supported and empowered. I’m licensed to practice in NY, PA, and FL.
