About
Tena koe. I am a New Zealand Psychology Board (NZPB) registered Psychologist, working in private practice supporting children, whanau (families), adolescents and adults. With a strong regard to Māori and Pasifika cultures, I named my practice ‘Te Arapiki‘, which means ‘bridge’ in te reo Māori. This metaphor fits with my desire to awhi (support/work alongside) individuals on the pathway towards hauora (optimal health and wellbeing), while respecting clients’ cultural needs.
Using a strengths based, positive psychology approach, the primary therapy I use is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I have undertaken considerable training in CBT and am proud to be a ‘Beck Institute Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certified Clinician’ (BICBT-CC). Integration of other evidence based approaches and modalities are often used to compliment CBT; including: skills and strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solutions Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Sensorimotor strategies.
I have an office in Taupō where I see clients face to face. I also offer online psychotherapy .
Ngā mihi nui, Den.
