About
I have been in private practice for 24 years in the Lutherville/Towson area of Baltimore. I treat Anxiety Disorders and OCD in children, adolescents, young adults. I received my master’s degree from The Catholic University of America in 1994 in Social Work, and completed my clinical internship at Georgetown University Child Development Center.
I have a background in treatment foster care in West Baltimore where I was trained in using and teaching the Enriched Structural Family Model, promoting the research of Louise Guerney and the use of empathy and mirroring. This experience largely influenced my approach to writing curriculum and developing and giving talks around empathy’s influence on a person’s ability to change.
I designed and presented on the topic of Managing Distress and Conflict in the Workplace to physicians of The Medical Society of Virginia in 1999 and 2000 at 15 locations. My employment at Friends School in Baltimore as the lower school counselor allowed my to continue to develop curriculum and design presentations in conflict resolution, peer mediation and decision making, all with a focus on empathy. I joined the Institute for Family Education from 2001-2004, as an instructor, teaching 16 hour Powerful Parenting workshops. In 2014, I went on to pursue advanced training with the Beck Institute to pair my knowledge and skill base in empathy with cognitive behavioral therapy. In 2016, I completed advanced training with the IOCDF Pediatric Behavioral Therapy Training Institute, learning exposure response prevention therapy.
My passion is treating anxiety disorders using CBT and ERP. Most currently, I have designed and presented a webinar for Baltimore County School Social Workers in Treating School Age Anxiety in the Age of COVID. I am a clinical supervisor at The Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research, and a member of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, and the International OCD Foundation. I am currently a school program developer and speaker in the topics of anxiety, parenting, and empathy. I also maintain a full-time private practice and enjoy supervising and training other professionals. I sit on the Advisory Board for the Claire Marie Foundation for adolescent melanoma awareness and am an avid volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.
