Francine Broder, PsyD
Dr. Broder is a licensed clinical psychologist on staff at the Beck Institute. In addition to treating adults with a wide range of mental health problems, Dr. Broder gives workshops in cognitive behavior therapy for treatment of depression, suicide prevention and disordered eating. Dr. Broder earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where she was the recipient of the award for Advocacy, Leadership and Service. During her doctoral studies, she focused her research on predictors of weight loss following bariatric surgery. Dr. Broder completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a post-doctoral residency at the Beck Institute. She is the current Chair of an Integrated Health Committee of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Broder conducts individual and group consultation and supervision for clinicians interested in improving their skills in cognitive behavior therapy and has published in the field of eating disorders, and other clinical topics in applied psychology.
Norman Cotterell, PhD
Norman Cotterell, PhD, earned his AB in Psychology from Princeton University and his PhD from the University of Delaware. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania in 1990, under the direction of Dr. Aaron T. Beck. Dr. Cotterell is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and has served as a protocol therapist on a variety of large-scale psychotherapy outcome studies, including drug abuse, panic disorder, and the prevention of depression. He has lectured extensively for hospitals, churches, and support groups, and has conducted workshops across the United States and in Brazil. He has supervised residents and fellows in cognitive therapy and is a past recipient of the O. Spurgeon English Faculty Award for teaching psychiatry residents at Temple University. He is a faculty member and therapist at Beck Institute who treats older adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples with a variety of difficulties.
Shannon O’Flinn, PhD
Dr. Shannon Couture O’Flinn earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of California at San Diego/San Diego Veteran’s Affairs consortium. Her career has focused on teaching and supervising PhD students learning to provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to adult clients. As such, she has considerable experience lecturing on CBT for anxiety, depression, and the integration of other evidence-based techniques (e.g., DBT, ACT) within CBT case conceptualizations. She has held leadership positions at the American Psychological Association and within Division II (Training & Education) of the California Psychological Association. In addition, she has worked extensively with adult and older adult clients with concerns related to depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. At Beck Institute, Dr. O’Flinn treats clients and provides training and supervision to mental health professionals.
